The Seven Beehives

The seven building are designed to reflect the 7 heavens, earth and seas, colours, prophets, conditions and situations of the heart and the 7 seven voyages of Sinbad the Sailor from the Oriental tale from the Arabian Nights. The seven beehives are for social gathering, togetherness and speaking. The cultural Centre is becoming like in the old times the place of sharing stories of travellers who are traveling on one of the most important trade routes.

Viewed through the lens the reflections of the seven beehives are showing symbolic the opposite niches of the Buddha statues. From all areas of the cultural centre a clear view of the statues is given, which is also supported by the walkway on the roof.

This independent research was concerned with the development of Fairfax Harbour and its correlation to greater Port Moresby.

With the analysis along the topographical situation and using SWOT-tool, it was possible to retrieve key findings, which are able to answered most of the accruing main problems, e.g. social problems, population growth, sustainability in general, infrastructure, energy and water / waste solutions, cultural and heritage, industry growth, transportation and tourism.

The growth is taken as CHANCE to CHANGE for a sustainable future for the upcoming generations of PNG.

Life in modern container spaces with the classical elements of earth, water, fire, and air, is coming along with the upthrust of gravity.

„ … to a fish, a bird, and a terrestrial creature it turns it into architecture on land, above water, and up in the air“ describes Adolf M. Vogt Le Corbusier’s work. This architectural building is accelerating fast, turning in upthrust, hovering across the waves before disappearing into the sky.

A sustainable, C02 neutral research with hotel/congress, service and residential quarter is to be created on the site of the decommissioned Cardinal brewery in the immediate vicinity of the railway station.

Sustainability is not only seen as a calculable, measurable factor. More important for the longevity of the neighbourhood is the acceptance by the residents and users, i.e. that a vital place is created that attracts people and they enjoy visiting, occupying and staying there.
